What is Legionnaires’ Disease?
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine legionnaires’ disease is a severe form of pneumonia which is caused by bacteria known as legionella. People can get the disease from breathing in mist from water that contains the bacteria. The mist may come from hot tubs, showers, or air-conditioning units for large buildings. The bacteria do not spread from person to person contact.
